Dr. Howell has cared for nearly 7,000 cancer patients in his career. He has managed patients with the entire spectrum of malignant disorders, both as a consultant in private practice as well as an academic physician.
Dr. Howell is a clinical oncologist. Caring for patients, their family members and loved ones is what he does best. He has a strong interest in the individualization of care and treatment for each cancer patient, and the knowledge and experience to recommend the right course.
Dr. Howell is known to be thoughtful, forthright, intellectually honest, and a compassionate caregiver. He focuses on all facets of the patients he serves—not only the physical, but also the psychological and social aspects of each individual.
Knowing a person—how they spend their days, about their interests, what they value, who they love-- impacts on treatment recommendations, and how care is best delivered.
Dr. Howell works with patients where long term control and cure of cancer is the goal. He also cares for patients when their disease is unlikely to be cured and, to work to help patients and their families accommodate to each and every situation.
"Cure when possible, comfort always", a quote ascribed to Hippocrates is Dr. Howell's credo.
